I Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself……

“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.

You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.

And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.”————-William Boetcker (1873-1962)

As I said above, I can’t say it any better.  I continue to believe that lack of personal responsibility and a sense of accountability is one of the biggest problems in our country today.

If you agree, feel free to pass on the above quote.  And if you don’t agree, then study the quote above until it makes sense to you.

Pup out.

  1. Great quote, pup. This is totally true. How amazing that communist and socialist governments never see this…I guess it’s because they are too busy taking care of Themselves to ever notice. I am wondering about ours now….

  2. I don’t think they “see” this, because it’s not in THEIR best interest to see it. They know this is true, as much as the rest of us know it, but they must suppress it, and tell the “people” otherwise. As in, “here, let me do that for you”, “here, let me give you this monthly check, you poor thing.”

What I don’t understand is why the people being “helped” don’t see this as the subtle insult that it is. “We know you can’t achieve anything on your own, so we’re going to support you.”

Just boggles my mind. I’m so thankful for how I was raised, to reject this kind of thinking.
